Upon being liberated from the Nazi concentration camp, Pastor Martin Niehmohler was asked what happened. His reply was" "First they came for the communists and trade unionists and I wasn't one of them. Then they came for the Jews and Gypsies and I wasn't one of them. Then they came for the Catholics and I was Protestant. Then they came for me and there was no one left to stand up and speak out."
